EXPERIENCE…POPERA! STARRING KRASSIMIR” TAKES AUDIENCE ON THE RIDE OF A LIFETIME AT KODAK THEATRE THURSDAY NIGHT.

May 11, 2006

“Experience…Popera! Starring Krassimir” united one of the world’s most angelic voices and more than 50 artists in an incredible show that benefited the UCLA AIDS Institute Thursday night. More than 2,500 people descended upon one of Hollywood’s most prestigious venues for a performance that was truly out of this world.

Punctuated by Krassimir’s incredible 4-octave male soprano voice and incredible choreography, the diverse international line-up included the SuperDevoiche UCLA Bulgarian Women’s Choir, solo jazz violinist and Yanni tour luminary Karen Briggs, stilt virtuoso Trey Knight and his Stilt World company, L.A. based Taiko drum group Zendeko and Indian dancer Shiji Rasalia.

Beverly Hills resident and 2005 LA Music Awards Superstar of the Year, Krassimir, was the consummate performer, seamlessly leading the audience through his diverse blending of musical styles. From traditional arias to Indian chants and European dance anthems, his voice rose above it all and the visual aesthetic was as entertaining and unique as it comes. While stilt walkers bounded across the stage, taiko drummers pounded drums in the background. At one point there were 60 people on stage joining in the choreographed climax.

After a crowd pleasing, call and answer encore, the VIPs headed over to the Renaissance Hotel’s Twist for cocktails, food and merriment.

Thursday’s diverse line-up of artists came together not only to celebrate the rise of “Popera,” but also to help create awareness about the growing global HIV epidemic. A portion of the proceeds from the concert went to benefit the UCLA Aids Institute.
